In the picture: 1, PCR negative control; amplification products at 17, 19, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, and 45 cycles corresponding to lines 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, respectively, using 105 molecules of competitor and target in the PCR; 12, molecular weight marker (from top to bottom = 1.4 kb, 1.2 kb, 750 bp, 450 bp, and 366 bp). Lines represent densitometry data of the target and competitor band intensities versus cycle number. Each point is the average between two different experiments. Bars represent the target and competitor PCR efficiencies for each cycle. There are no statistically significant differences between target and competitor efficiencies in any cycles determined using matched t test (p > 0.05).
