This figure shows how in the original nanoAcquity LC “1D” setup the sample would be injected into the sampling loop, then be desalted on the trapping column, before being chromatographically separated on the analytical column. However in the upgraded “2D” setup there is an additional column after the sampling loop from which the sample is eluted from in individual fractions
